Using File Manager

1

MyEZApp.com includes a robust file manager that allows you not only to manage the files associated with your applications but also create new files, interact with code, generate, run, and even share.

2

The File Manager is divided into two major areas: - File Tree : this tree on the left allows you to navigate through your files. Click on the "plus" to expand a folder or the "minus" to collapse it. Click on a file to display its contents in the Edit Area on the right. - Edit Area : the Edit Area on the right displays the file contents.

When you interact with a .ws (code) file, the Edit Area divides further: - Code Area : This area displays the raw code in the .ws file. You can make modifications to the code in this window. - Functionality Tree : The functionality tree converts the code into a hierarchical tree that represents the function of the code that you have written. - Output Window : The Output Window displays the results of the code when the Run Button is pressed.

3

Navigating through folders is simple: - If the folder has a "" Sign, click on it to expand the folders contents. Additional folders within may have "" that you can expand as well. - If the folder does not have a "-" Sign, it is because either the folder is empty or the folder is not loaded. Click on the folder if there is any content in the folder, the "" sign will show up. - If the folder has a "-" Sign, click on it to close the folder and any subfolders within.

4

To open a file within a folder, simply click on it. If the file is a .ws file, it will open into the expanded Edit Window, displaying two parts: - Code (in the Code Area), and - Functionality Tree.

When you have selected a file to open, additional functionality will appear at the top of the Code Window: - Run, - Save, - View, - Edit, - Delete, and - Share

5

To run an opened .ws file, - Click on the Run Button at the top of the Code Window. MyEZApp.com will attempt to run the file and generate any output (errors or results) in the Output Window. - Alternatively, because each page within your account has a unique URL, you can run scripts by typing their URL directly into your browser. For example you create a script under /myfolder/, you can run the script using URL http://www.myezapp.com/{user name}/myfolder/{script name}.ws.

6

When you have an open file within the Edit Area, you can make changes. Once you have made changes, you can save them by clicking the Save Button at the top of the Code Window.

It is recommended that you periodically save any work that you do. It is also recommended, because MyEZApp.com is a web-based application, that you "copy and paste" your code (and any changes you are making) into a separate file on your computer to ensure that nothing is lost in the event that the MyEZApp.com website or your Internet access becomes unavailable.

7

Click the upload button, select the file from your local drive, and click upload.

8

To share a file, - Click on the file you wish to share. This will open it into the Edit Area. - Once opened in the Edit Area, click the Share Button at the top of the Code Area. This will open the Share Window. - To share, simply enter the users name and then click the Submit Button.

The user must be someone in your contacts. For more information about adding people to your contacts, see the sharing Tutorial.

9

To delete a file, - Click on the file you wish to delete. This will open it into the Edit Area. - Once opened in the Edit Area, click the Delete Button at the top of the Code Area. This will display a confirmation dialogue. - To delete the file, click the OK Button.

Deleting a file is permanent. Please use with caution.

10

In addition to managing, opening, and running code files within the File Manager, you can also create new files. This enables you to utilize MyEZApp.com like you would any other IDE (integrated development environment).

To create a new file, - Click on the Files Icon in the Application Tab on the Dashboard. This will open the File Manager. - Click on the New Button. This will open the New File Window. - Once the window is open, you can specify the following: - Folder : the location where the file will be created. This can be a folder that already exists or a new folder. - Name : the name of the file - When you are finished, click the Submit Button. This will create the file and/or folder and return you to the File Manager main interface.

11

To delete a folder, - Click on the folder you wish to delete. This will display the delete option. - To delete the folder you have selected, simply click the Delete Button. This will display a confirmation dialogue. - To delete the folder, click the OK Button.
